BMW Ghost Immobiliser

The Ghost utilizes the CAN data bus to communicate with your vehicle. This prevents thieves from putting in keys or replacing the ECU to bypass your security system as it requires a valid PIN code to start the engine.

Like other immobilisers, The Ghost is different from other immobilisers. Ghost doesn't use LED indications or key fobs. Instead, it uses the buttons in your vehicle to allow you to enter a unique disarm sequence that you only know.

Stop & Start

If you've been in a BMW or used its stop-start feature, you may have noticed the engine continues to run for 30 seconds after you have released the brake pedal. The BMW engine management system continues to monitor the vehicle for signals coming from the ignition key. Once it finds this the vehicle will continue to operate. The Autowatch 2 Ghost is a device that prevents this by stopping the vehicle every time you hit a button.

Our BMW ghost immobiliser is a unique next-generation device that doesn't require cutting OEM wires or installing an aftermarket alarms and key fobs. It is connected to the BMW CAN data network, and is programmed with a unique PIN code that can be accessible through buttons on your car. This allows you to enter an exact key-push sequence that is not in the normal media menus, such as volume up/down or cruise control, source or turning on air conditioning, which prevents your car from starting until it is entered. The PIN can be between 4 and 20 characters, making it hard for thieves to guess.

We can also add the service/valet mode. This is activated while your vehicle is being serviced to ensure that the Ghost is away from the garage. This can be achieved by pressing the service button on your infotainment device 5 times (the system will flash to confirm this) and when you return the Ghost will automatically re-arm.

Service / Valet Mode

Anti-Hijack

Ghost created this discrete device that is unobtrusive and helps in battling the growing sophistication of hi-tech thieves. It's designed to stop thieves from acquiring a new key or replacing the ECU in order to start your car and drive it away. Ghost is connected to your CAN network, and uses buttons on your vehicle to create a unique push-sequence that must be entered before your engine can begin.

If the anti-hijacking mode has been activated the attempt to restart the engine will be stopped. When the system determines that the vehicle is no longer moving, it will honk the horn and flash the indicators, if it fails to locate the correct code, it will also stall the engine (where possible). By entering your push sequence or entering service mode, you can disable the Anti-Hijack function. This allows your vehicle to temporarily start without having to enter PIN.

If you own a GPS device that is connected to your BMW it can be used to cancel the Anti-Hijack feature, so you can still use the navigation system inside your car when the vehicle is parked and unsupervised. If you own a smart-phone, you can also connect it to your Ghost app to control the anti-hijack feature and other functions.

Remote Control

We can connect your Ghost device to your mobile application for remote control of keyless go and start functionality. This is helpful when you are in another location and valet or mechanic need to start your car. The system allows you to turn the car on and off, then select drive and quit service mode without needing your key fobs. You can also track your vehicle on an interactive map on your smartphone.

The Ghost can be positioned under the dashboard or in the center console. It is completely concealed and tamperproof and does not require any additional wiring. The device is connected to the vehicle's CAN Data Network (similar to an Ethernet cable) and a unique PIN code is embedded into it. The pin code has to be entered before the vehicle starts. This stops thieves from using a copied key or replacing the ECU to get around this system.

If the vehicle is stolen in any way, the Ghost will go into a service mode and disables all functions unless a PIN code is entered or you use the mobile app to disarm it. This is a feature that was created to safeguard your vehicle from high-tech thieves who are now utilising relay boxes to steal your vehicle. It also prevents thieves from using their mobile phones to activate your sat nav or mp3 player to locate your vehicle!

Ghost can also stop the 'Relay-style Frequency amplification'. This is the most frequent way a car is being stolen using a key fob that was copied or stolen by hacking. Ghost enables you to prevent this by installing an anti-theft device in your vehicle that is called Secure-A Key. The device installs inside the key-fob of your vehicle and then disconnects the battery after a few minutes of inactivity. This can be done on the majority of modern PKE key-fobs.
