This book is a great example of how Darrow can create a back story for Avon. He also re-creates the bantering dialogue style that Blake's 7 became famous for. But, unless you're a Blake's 7 fan it's not for you. The story revolves around the relationship between Avon, Vila and their mutual respect and disdain for the other's ruthlessness and cowardice.

Avon's soft side is revealed when he has to make the difficult decisions necessary to protect his team. The characters have a lot of depth, and each has a distinct personality that makes them believable. This is a story that you'll want to read more about. The writing is flawless, and the narrative has a real sense of place. It's a masterpiece written by an author at the top of her game.

She gives the former California Perfume Company credit for breaking with the prescribed economic role imposed on women in the 19th and 20th century America, yet she also exposes the ways in which its rhetoric sugar-coated what was really a rather radical economic concept by wrapping it in ideals of domesticity and respectability.

Avon has a broad selection of women's novels as well as a series of thrillers and crime. The list of children's books is expanding. The bestselling CL Taylor, Katerina Diamond and many other authors are published by Avon.

Avon's dedication to bringing the best of commercial fiction to the widest possible audience continues to be the case today. Avon books are innovative, diverse and include some of the most exciting authors of contemporary literature. The company also has a long and prestigious tradition of publishing the top in historical fiction, specifically in the genre of historical romance. Often called the house that invented the historical romance, Avon is still the preferred publisher for writers like Tessa Dare and Lisa Kleypas.

The Author

These new releases made earlier Avon romances more romantic with their purple-prosed love scenes seem tame.
