Instead he employed insinuation and storytelling.

Another thing I enjoyed about this book was the way Heyer subtly pointed out women's limitations during this time. Leonie dislikes trading in her breeches to get layers of skirts and petticoats, she refuses to ride side-saddle, and is always shooting villains dead (even even though it's a risky job).
