They operate with a key to unlock a cylinder case that then reveals pins which can be aligned with the pins in the lock body and allowing them to turn an revolving cam, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with internal and external doors typically having different levels of security.

The selection of a cylinder is vital. It is based on the type of use your doors and handles will receive. For example, external doors should be fitted with a more secure cylinder while doors inside can be secured using an ordinary cylinder. In addition, some cylinders come with additional features which can enhance security, for instance anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

A euro lock handles cylinder should be measured correctly to ensure that it is the right size for your door. The cylinder must be measured from the screw hole at the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn in the event that one is present. If you are unable measure it with the lock in position, you can take it out of it. It is important to avoid having a cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.

The majority of modern cylinders have been designed with anti-drill and bump resistance features built into their design. These are designed to reduce the chances of an attack by forcing the cylinder to rotate in a different direction. This will help to deflect an attack and ensure your door is secure.

There are cylinders constructed to withstand snapping. Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is situated in the base plate of your door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to return the multipoint lock handles for internal bifold doors to their resting position after using.
