Seats

The majority of 3 wheel stroller reversible seat wheel double buggies are initially single pushchairs. However, some can be converted to take the seat of a second person or carrycot by converting adapters (these are typically more common in tandem buggies). Certain models let you add an extra board for older children who are ready to walk, but still need some help.

It can be used for twins beginning at birth and can accommodate two car seats, or a carrycot that has a seat. It also has a handbrake that is attached to the handlebar that can be adjusted for more security and safety.

The UPPAbaby vista 2 double is another lightweight option that can be used by twins or a toddler and a baby. The seats have a multi-position reclining with UPF 50plus sunshades. The canopy can be adjusted to ensure that the sun doesn't reach your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can be converted into an UPPAbaby triple by incorporating UPPAbaby's "PiggyBack" board, which is designed for older children.

The iCandy Orange is one of the most popular double buggies on the market because of its exceptional comfort. It's an all-terrain pushchair with a soft suspension, which can easily handle bumpy surfaces. It comes with 30 different seating options, a built-in board for older children who like to walk and a 'cinema mode' that raises the back seats for better visibility.

Alternately, the phil&teds dots is a brilliant single buggy from day 1 that is able to easily be adapted to take 2 (or 3 wheeler buggy!) different configurations. This is especially helpful for parents with children in a car seat, since the frame can be equipped with a wedgie for optimum lie-flat positioning, or car seat adapters for a wider range of brands.

Suspension

The suspension of a triple wheeled buggy will determine the ease with which you and your child/children are able to push it. A smooth ride is vital as babies can feel every bump in the road, especially if it's on rough terrain such as grass or dirt roads. Certain models come with front tires that lock to help maneuver and get over obstacles like curbs.

Some models use air-filled tyres which will give you a great all-terrain ride, but can be prone to punctures, so ensure you have spares in the trunk. Some models have gel-filled or foam-filled tyres which are designed to cushion bumps. They are less likely to puncture, but they could cause discomfort for your child if you decide to jog.

MFM reviewer Kath tested the Urban Glide 2 through its tests with her infant and three years old son, and found it coped really well on difficult terrains: "it navigated effortlessly over pavements that were bumpy and grassy cobbles, dirt tracks and cobbles effortlessly and was easy to manoeuvre around corners and go up and down kerbs. The 16" rear wheels, when combined with the lockable swivel wheel on the front, make it an extremely comfortable jogging experience. The Urban Glide 2 has a variety of features, including a large seat unit with a padded cover as well as a hood that has 50+ UV protection and easy-to-use and rechargeable visibility lights.

Folding

A three-wheel double buggy could be folded easily to store it. There are options that fold flat and stand up (as as if they were the shape of a pushchair) and others that are able to open up to reveal more umbrella-like folding that has the option of a hand-operated break. The more wheels a buggy has, generally the more easy it will be to maneuver through rough terrain. This is especially true if the wheels are larger than the average size. You will have more stability and it will be less likely that you will have to tip over or flip your child.

If you're looking to run with your children this is the ideal double buggies for jogging as it comes with a lockable swivel front wheel that helps you stay in control when you're on off-road or hilly tracks. It has a large undercarriage, a movable handlebar, and soft suspension that gives you the most comfortable ride.

It's a light, compact option that folds with just one hand. It's perfect for traveling.
